A Classic Example of a Societal Context : |
|
. The classic public example of creating a context occurred on May 25, 1961 when President John F. Kennedy said in a speech before the U.S. Congress: "This nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to earth." In spite of the fact that, in 1961, such a goal was clearly impossible, by 1969 the goal had been accomplished. Why? Because a context was created within which everything else became content. Even the belief that "it's impossible" became a part of making it happen. |
.
.
|
An Example of a C0-created Personal Context: |
|
. If you are like most people, you grew up in what is called a family. Terms like mom, dad, children, siblings, parents, etc. refer to members of the family. Where did this family unit come from? Your parents created it. On their wedding day, they formally declared its existence and later created children as a portion of the content within their self-declared context. Before your parents declared it into being, what you refer to as "my family" did not exist. Your family unit is an example of a personally created context. In this example the context was created by two people together. Your parents created that context, and you, your siblings, your mom, and your dad are all content within that context. This is just one example. Every relationship you have is a co-created context. |
.
.
|
An Example of a Self-Created Personal Context : |
|
. Your life is filled with contexts. Your relationship to your physical body is a personal context. Your relationship to your home is a context. Everything you do is within several contexts. Most of these contexts were originally created when you were a very young child. Remember, a personal context is a mind set, a mental attitude, a way of being. Below are some more examples of contexts. |
.
.
|
A few of Your Most Important Contexts : |
|
. The main and most common ones are listed below. contexts that are not changeable ... Social
and Environmental Contexts: u You are a spiritual being;(some will argue against this assertion) u You live on planet Earth; u You live in a masculine or a feminine human body;(some will also argue against this assertion) u You live at a specific time in human history; u
You live within the presently existing, economic, u
You grew up in a specific social, religious, economic, u The age of your body is whatever it is; u
Your past is whatever it is
-- your education, your
relationships, contexts that are changeable ... Personal
contexts: u Your personal religious and philosophical belief system; u Your beliefs about yourself; u Your attitudes and opinions; u Your emotions and feelings; u Your expectations; u What you will or will not allow into your life. . |

. Doing — All Activities Occur Within a Context : |
|
. To intentionally create within a context, one forms an intention (sets a goal, imagines a desired outcome) and then chooses actions designed to manifest that intention. When intentionally creating, one is aware of both the context and the content, but actions taken are not done in reaction to content. Things are not done for externally perceived reasons or as a result of content. One neither stops and waits for things to happen nor rushes out and takes action. One continues to live his/her life and does so in the space of positive, joyous expectancy. One does, or allows to occur, whatever feels appropriate, whenever it feels appropriate and all the while, continues to hold the goal in mind as though it were already a physical reality. |

The Forces of Creation Are Derived from Context : |
|
. The
forces of creation are derived from the context within which things are done and
have nothing to do with the doing. Remember that a context is
created in your mind. It's an intention and a commitment to
accomplish a goal. What you do, your physical activity is: A context must be continually recreated. It can be likened to creating balance while riding a bicycle. The moment you stop creating balance, the bicycle falls over. Contexts have contents, but contents do not create contexts. First, a context is created (a commitment is made to accomplish a goal) and then all of its contents fit inside. Being precedes action because being is the context and action is the content. A context is a way of being. It is not something to do. **

. There is a significant difference in approaching life from have/do/be instead of from be/do/have. For Example:
Consciousness creates the physical world. "Matter arise out of the right combination of Consciousness." Being precedes doing. First, in your mind (in your consciousness) create and be who you choose to be. This will inspire you to take certain actions. You actions will produce the having. The having will strengthen being happy and being grateful. Like everywhere else in life, the context controls the content. The context of wanting a new car, tells the universe to give you more wanting and not the car. The context of being happy and grateful tells the universe to give you more to be happy and grateful for. .

Can Change the Meaning of its Content: |
|
. When we expand a context, we often give a new and very different meaning to its content. The Poem, "For Want of a Nail" is an example of this. All for the Want of a Nail For want of a nail, the shoe was
lost; The author
is unknown. This rhyme probably In this poem, each line expands the context in which the nail exists as content. Each expansion of context also gives the nail, a new meaning. Expanding the context does not damage or destroy the content. The original content still exists. The difference is that the content often has a new and sometimes very different meaning in the larger context. You may find that what previously made sense, no longer does, or that what previously appeared to be trash has become a treasure. The same thing happens with a thought, an ides, or a belief. When we expand the context within which we hold a thought, its meaning and the significance can change. The original thought, itself, doesn't change, but its meaning and its significance can and often does change. The behavior that the thought inspires also changes. Because thoughts, ideas and beliefs are the harbingers, the forerunners, the directors of behavior, an action that seemed correct and appropriate in a small context, may be completely inappropriate in a bigger context. The antithesis is also true. An action that seemed incorrect and inappropriate in a small context, may be completely correct and appropriate in a bigger context. We would like to think that we have the real truth about topics such as abortion, but we simply don't know if and when we'll find a larger context in which our present truth becomes only a partial truth. One of the principles put forth by the ancient philosopher, Hermes Trismegistus° expresses this idea succinctly: "All truths are but half truths." In essence, this principle tells us that no matter how much we know about something, there are still aspects of it that we don't know. Forced Motherhood Seen in Two, Different Contexts: The forced motherhood controversy is a poignant example of changing the meaning of something by expanding the context in which it is viewed. The Old: When viewed in the limited context of ancient Christian theology, abortion is indeed, murder. The New: Now, let's expand the context: 1) Add the additional evidence that is now available and that was not available when the beliefs about the origin and the purpose of human life were first written into Christian theology. 2) Add ideas and beliefs from other religions.° When this additional information enters the picture, the meaning and significance of abortion change dramatically. In the old context, intentional pregnancy termination is murder. In the expanded context, its significance is reduced to the biological equivalent of stopping work on a construction site. . |

Tool For Power-Control Tool for Power and Control ... Changing a Context As a Tool for Power and Control: |
|
. Those who's intention is to control others use three primary techniques to accomplish their objectives -- 1) violence, 2) alter what people believe and 3) change the context in which people live. For a context example, examine the economic environment in the United States ( the economic context) under the leadership of the Republican establishment (2000 - 2006) . Bush and company have drastically altered by the activities of many people by creating an economic deficit of trillions of dollars. Their excessive deficit spending has caused the value of the dollars in your wallet and in your check book to be significantly reduced. The result is that it now (2006) takes more dollars to buy your basic goods and services than it did in 1999. Their activity is also resulting in the intentional and systematic destruction of the American middle class. *** The connection between cause (government deficit spending) and effect (more people living in economic hardship) is not obvious to many people because to the degrees of separation.° For additional clarity, readers are referred to the sections titled Death and Misery Statistics° and Con-Artists and Manipulator's Guidebook°. Another example of manipulating others by changing the context can be found in the forced motherhood (anti-abortion) war. By systematically destroying and/otherwise eliminating the availability of women's health care facilities, the fundamentalist Christians are forcing unwilling women and naive young girls to become mothers and to bring still more unwanted children into an already overcrowded world. ***Editor's Note: The naive look to their government to solve their problems when the overwhelming evidence indicates that governments (i.e. concentrations of power) are the causes of most of the world's problems. . |

. When you make a commitment to something, you are creating a context. Creating a context sets the forces of the universe into action. The following is probably the most famous quote regarding commitment: Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative [and creation] there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans. The moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issue from the decision raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. W. H. Murray The Scottish Himalayan Expedition . "Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now." Goethe |

. When something becomes a context, it has room for its opposite within it as content. Within a context there’s even room for for those who believe "it's impossible." A context allows space for all positions and beliefs. A context allows space for all contents. There is no need to resist any contrary ideas. There is no need to defend anything. There is no need to hold any ideas as positions. (i.e. “This is why such and such is happening.” “This is how to solve the problem.” “This is what to do about that.” etc.) Whatever is done within a context is done by choice and is not done for a reason or in response to content. A context is not about fixing, correcting or changing you, or me, or anything else out there in the physical world. It's about creating. Remember the ancient principle: "To fight something is to feed it." "What you resist persists." So we need to stop fighting and start creating. Also remember you are working in your mind, at the first-cause-level of creation. You are NOT working in the physical world. When you create your new thoughts and intentions, your old and unwanted fears and dreads will wither away and die all by themselves, like a house plant that you stop watering. You'll still have physical matters that will need to be addressed in the physical world, but they require attention as tasks to be completed and not as objects over which to go to war. Also, avoid being stopped by what is logical and reasonable. Intentions often get overwhelmed by the intellect and by reasonableness. For example, if Einstein had been reasonable, he would have never come up with the theory of relativity. Become aware that when we get our limited personalities, egos, and belief systems out of the way, we make room for the intuitive and inspirational aspect of self to work through us. Become aware that what is a context (a ground of being) in one area of life is often also a context, and a controlling factor in other areas of life. For example, if you believe that suffering here on Earth is the only way to get to heaven, that belief is content in your Earth-life-context, and at the same time, it's a context that controls and affects not only your religious behavior, but it also affects everything else you do in every other area of your life. |

Getting Derailed or Sidetracked : |
|
. People
lose sight of their contexts when they stop:
(2) to deal with
things that are totally irrelevant to the contexts, (3) to praise those things that appear to support the context. With our limited amount
of knowledge we often have no way of knowing whether outside events are
positive, negative or neutral. Avoid being at the effect of those
self-created, seemingly outside-created events. Observe them and
keep on going to the goal.

. When a barrier comes up, just be with it. Avoid resisting it, trying to dominate it, trying to control it or trying to change it. Instead, include it in and make it part of the context you have created. Rather than challenging it, make space for it, simply allow it to be as it is. In your mind, make a special storage bin out back. Make it look like a trash bin. Store that unwanted stuff there. You can always retrieve it later, if you decide you still want it. Now that the barrier is both safe and set aside, just let it be. Shift your focus onto your intended outcome. This focus directs your creative energy toward your goal rather than wasting it on that which is not wanted. In your mind, create an imaginary self for which the goal is already accomplished. Be
in charge, but do not attempt to dominate or control. Press on to
completion by staying in the ground of being that knows: I am the cause. '
And remember, there is no room for victims at the
“Inn of Success.”

Mindset of the Listeners/Viewer/Experiencer : |
|
The underlying belief system of the listener/viewer/experiencer is another critical factor in understanding what an experience means. His (or her) belief system -- his ground of being -- his perspective on life strongly influences how the he interprets the story. The two examples below will illustrate this. Example One: In conversing with a follower of Christianity living in the early days of Christianity, if you pointed up, the person would interpret your action to as if you were pointing to heaven, because he believed the Earth was flat and heaven was a physical place up there above the clouds. If today, in conversing with anybody knowledgeable in Earth science, when you pointed up, he would understand that "up" for the surface of the Earth is an infinite number of directions. Why? Because the Earth is round and up is simply the opposite direction form pointing to the center of the earth. Also, the Earth is constantly both rotating and moving through space so you can never point up in exactly the same way twice. Example Two: Capital punishment (the death penalty) appears to be the end of life, and for the physical body, yes, it certainly is, but when you look at the variety of human beliefs and the assumptions we make about "what the physical body is" some startling findings come to light. When one examines capital punishment from each of the three basic theories/assumptions about life (Christian one-life-ism, atheism, and reincarnation) one finds three conflicting and completely different meanings, one finds objective reality, pure fantasy, and personal religious beliefs are all scrambled together. See the page titled: Capital Punishment -- The Death Penalty. ' For each of us, our unique point of perception applies to everything in our lives. Every human being brings his (her) own unique belief system and his/her expectations into all his or her experiences and observations. This is normal. This is Natural. We all do it all the time. Sometimes, our way of viewing something makes a huge difference in the significance we place on any event or experience. Kept this in mind the next time you places a meaning on any experience or on an observation, particularly if you do so while in a state of high emotion. You might also note that when several people witness the same event, their description of the event are often quite different, and, over time the accuracy of their descriptions becomes less and less reliable. . |

. We must accept the contexts that are not changeable; ' however, even with the fixed contexts being as they are, you can still alter and re-create your own personal reality by examining, and then altering the contexts that are changeable. ' Remember, thoughts act as building blocks, ' emotions act as the power plant that energizes your thoughts into physical form, and beliefs, attitudes, etc. are the molds (the forms, the structures, the contexts) within which our thoughts must fit if they are to become physical reality. Think of yourself as a ship in a multi-dimensional ocean. Your thoughts are your steering mechanism and your emotions are your engine. An excellent example of how to create a context can be found by reading the thirty page booklet entitled, The End of Starvation: Creating an Idea Whose Time Has Come, by Werner Erhard.
